Can I remain registered with my dentist and receive treatment from you for my oral hygiene?

This is certainly possible! The dentist and the dental hygienist are both different professionals in the world of oral care. The dental hygienist focuses on all aspects of prevention and ensures together with you that you create and monitor your (oral) health or cure and prevent it!

Is it important to visit the dental hygienist during pregnancy?

When you are pregnant, many changes take place in and around your mouth. This is related to the hormonal changes that you go through during pregnancy. Having these hormonal changes has a major impact on your oral health. For example, you are more susceptible to having gum disease. When there is gum disease, this also affects your baby. Having gum disease increases the chance of premature birth and low birth weight.

What is the difference between a dental hygienist and a (periodontal) preventive assistant?

A dental hygienist has completed the 4-year HBO education in Oral Health Care. The preventive assistant is a dental assistant who has completed an additional course to become a preventive assistant or (periodontal) preventive assistant. The difference between a dental hygienist and a (periodontal) preventive assistant is mainly between the education that has been followed and thus the authority that he/she has to perform specific treatments.

When should I visit the dental hygienist?

There are several reasons to visit a dental hygienist. Is a water flosser a good alternative to a toothpick or interdental brush?

No. You can use a water flosser as a supplement to your basic oral hygiene, but not as a replacement .
Good basic oral hygiene consists of brushing twice a day and using a brush and/or toothpick once a day with the correct technique.

Why do my gums bleed?

This can have several causes. Blood is never good in any case. Having blood in the mouth is often related to an inflammation. You can schedule an appointment with us. We will then perform a screening of your oral health and provide the right treatment so that you can say goodbye to blood for good.

Do I need a referral from my dentist?

No, that is not necessary. Even without a referral from the dentist, you are very welcome at Alles over de Mond!

Can I cancel or reschedule an appointment with you?

Yes, you can always cancel an appointment. You must adhere to the 48-hour rule . This means that you can cancel the appointment free of charge 48 hours before the appointment .

Is there a waiting time when I make an appointment?

We can always offer an appointment within 2 weeks. This is because we have flexible opening hours .

Can I indicate a preference for a practitioner?

When you make a first appointment, we will always first look at a first possibility and choose between Daniëlla, Bellarosa and Rosanne and offer the appointment. Yes, definitely! We at Alles over de Mond are authorized and qualified to perform a general check-up. In addition, we are also the dental care professional to guide you to recovery with a customized treatment and to prevent the return of the oral problem.

What is important to bring to a first appointment?

We kindly ask you to bring:
- a valid identity document
- a printout of your medication list
- your oral hygiene products:
think of toothpaste, toothbrush and all other products that you use in your mouth.

What makes you better than others during a treatment?

When you have an appointment with us in our agenda, we always take the time for you. You never step into the treatment chair immediately. We want to have a conversation before the treatment and will perform certain updates in the anamnesis. You can think of questions about your health, but also questions about your stress level and the use of your oral hygiene products.

This means that we always know what is going on in daily life and we can take you into account as a person, but also the condition of your oral health.

What is a wish session?

A wish session is a consultation in which we can help you/your child(ren) overcome any personal fear that may exist in dentistry. In this way, we let your/your child get used to the entire dental care setting at his/her own pace: from the lamp - the treatment chair - the instruments. Can I have a tooth gem removed?

Yes, this is possible, but only with a dental professional. You can come to us for the safe removal of a dental jewel without causing damage to the teeth and molars.

Can I have my teeth whitened by you?

Yes, this is possible. When you schedule a first appointment, we will first determine the condition of your mouth. If your mouth is healthy, we would like to hear your wishes regarding the color.
Did you know: that we only bleach in the chair. This way we as the professional keep sufficient supervision of the process and we can immediately assess the desired result.

Do you take into account the treatment of children?

We always use a special method called tell-show-do. This means that we tell what we do, we show it and then we let it be felt on the hands and then we perform the (treatment). The entire (treatment) is also adapted to your/your child. Every child is unique and this means that you also have to adapt your communication to this.

Does a dental hygienist just clean?

Can I be anesthetized during treatment?

This is certainly possible. Before we apply the actual anesthesia, we can apply an ointment prior to the anesthesia so that you hardly feel anything from the insertion of the anesthesia.

My child is afraid of the dentist, what can I do?

You can schedule an appointment with us. We ensure that every child can get used to a dental setting and the associated (treatments). With our knowledge and expertise ( a wish session ) your child will enter and leave the practice with a smile and self-confidence.

Can I be treated for a cold sore?

Not in our practice. We would like to ask you to postpone the appointment until the cold sore has disappeared. This has to do with the fact that having a cold sore is contagious.

Can I be treated with a pacemaker?

Yes, this is possible. However, we do need to adjust the treatment accordingly. This is also the reason why we always take a health questionnaire and/or update it during a first visit and in follow-up visits.

How long does an appointment with the dental hygienist take?

Both the interval period and the treatment duration depend on the findings we make in your mouth. The amount of plaque, dental plaque and tartar affect the treatment duration and, for example, whether there is fear. We always take the time for everyone, but when there is a degree of fear, we can, for example, use breaks if desired.
Did you know: we never use a standard 'see you in 6 months' protocol.

Can I have my teeth checked by you?

Yes, this is possible! We at Alles over de Mond are authorized and qualified to perform a 'semi-annual' check. We do not only check for cavities, but also check:

- medical data;
- psychosocial data;
- all soft tissues in and around the mouth;
- habits (such as clenching - grinding - nail biting);
- the gums;
- the oral care products + technique used;
- the level of plaque - tartar - deposits.

By carrying out a comprehensive periodic check-up we can prevent, cure and prevent recurrence of serious oral problems.
Did you know: that a check-up (C002 €26.75) always has a time frame of 20-30 minutes at Alles over de Mond instead of those quick 5 minutes in which almost nothing can be assessed.

How much does a dental hygienist treatment cost?

The costs for a treatment by the dental hygienist depend on the findings in your mouth. For example, we look at how much tartar, plaque and deposits are present.

The rates for oral hygiene treatments are (nationally) determined by the NZa. You can read more information on the rates page.

How does payment work?

Payments must be made after the treatment at the counter and preferably by pin. We do not work with an invoicing company. You will receive the invoice (digital or printed), which you can submit to your health insurer. If there is additional dental insurance, the costs will be (partially) reimbursed. If you do not know whether you will be reimbursed for the costs in part or in full, you can request this information from your health insurer.

Will the treatments be reimbursed by my health insurer?

For children under 18, the costs are fully reimbursed from the basic insurance. If you are 18 or older, the costs for treatment are not covered by the basic insurance. If you have additional dental insurance, the costs are often (partly) reimbursed. Ask your health insurer which treatment costs are reimbursed.

Can my children be treated for free?

Yes, this is possible. All children up to 18 years are reimbursed from the basic insurance. This means that the (treatment) treatments we perform are fully reimbursed.
